Usiwo Orezinena Jane (Born on April 3rd, 1993,) popularly known as Janemena, is a Nigeria dancer, and brad influencer She was born in Delta state and raised in Lagos state alongside her siblings, whose names are yet to be made public. After winning Kcee‘s dance competition in 2017, JaneMena took to social media to share some of her t*erk video clips amassing thousands of views and likes. She is also an ambassador for the brands; Lishashair and Patricia and she runs a female accessories business called Janemenaglitz.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
JaneMena was born and raised in Delta State. She grew up alongside her siblings and was not known for her dance skills at the time. she had her secondary education in her home state, after which she gained admission to Delta State University, where she studied and graduated with a degree in Mass Communication.
CAREER
Janemena has always loved dancing but unknown to her, this passion would earn her much-desired fortune and fame. She eventually made it to the limelight in 2017 after taking part in a twerking competition on Instagram. The competition was hosted by a famous Five Star Music musician, Kaycee, to promote his song titled “Dance,” which had Phyno featured in it.
For her dance performance, she was given a prize of 2 million nairas. This not only helped her build her financial status but also played a great role in molding her career path in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Months later, she began posting footage of her twerking abilities on her Instagram profile, which now has over four million followers, making her one of the most popular dancers in the country. She has recently been likened to Faith Nketsi of South Africa.
Taking advantage of the fame her twerking abilities has garnered her, Janemena decided to launch a youtube channel where she coaches interested viewers on how to twerk. As of the time of writing this piece, Jane’s Youtube page has over a hundred thousand views and likes.
Diving deeper into the Nigerian entertainment industry, Jane ventured into the Nollywood industry, where she starred in a handful of movies. Her acting career was, however, short-lived as she confessed to not being able to handle the challenges and pressure that came with it.
In her bid to try out other sources that would generate more income for her, Janemena went into business by opening her own clothing line, “Jamenagliz,” where she sells womenswear and accessories. In addition to her business venture, Janemena also makes income from brand endorsement deals she signed with beauty and skincare companies. She is also a brand ambassador for an e-commerce company called Patricia and a hairline known as Lishashair.
PERSONAL LIFE
JaneMena got engaged to her long-time lover, Andre Plies, on Valentine’s day in 2019. He popped the question during their vacation in the Maldives. They got married that same year, with the traditional wedding being held at JaneMena‘s hometown in Delta State. Asides from her love life, JaneMena is also highly followed on social media.
Mr. Plies is not as popular as his wife, and he appears not to be so much active on various social media platforms. As a result, nothing much has been said about his career or private life. It is also not known how the two met, but since their marriage, Mr. Plies has been supportive of his wife’s dancing career despite several backlashes.
Controversies Involving Janemena
Janemena’s dance and twerking career has given her deserving fame and wealth over the years. However, it is also common for celebrities like her to be involved in controversies mostly related to her love life or social lifestyle. One of the biggest controversies involving her was the backlash she received from people who considered her dance style inappropriate for a married woman like her.
Despite several condemnations, Janemena still pushed on with what she is known best to do. Interestingly, this effort has continued to earn her more fame and income. what seems to be more important is the full support she receives from her husband. He is her number one fan and has always supported her twerking videos.
Janemena and the Contrversial Sextape
In October 2021, Janemena was accused by actress Tonto Dikeh of having sex tape with her boyfriend Prince Kpokpogri. Referring to her as an ‘adulterous twerker,’ Tonto mocked Janemena over sex tape comments credited to her former boyfriend. This resulted in a legal battle as the actress reportedly filed suit against the dancer.
While the sex tape scandal led to widespread criticism by the public, both Jane and Kpokpogri denied the accusations, and the famous twerker went on to sue the actress for defamation of character. She also demanded that Dikeh tendered an unreserved apology online and pay N500M for damages.
However, shortly after the lawsuit went viral online, a leaked voice note of Kpokpogri talking about how he slept with Janemena emerged. According to him, Janemena confessed that he was better in bed than her husband, Andre Plies. Though there is no news about Janemena’s marriage falling apart, it is largely assumed that the audio recording might be the last straw that would break the camel’s back and cause Janemena‘s marriage to crash.
