Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, (born Olutoyin Aimakhu) is a Nigerian actress, TV Personality, entrepreneur, movie producer, and brand influencer. Due to her level of influence and fans, she is regarded as a household name in the Nigerian movie industry. Recently, Toyin Abraham created major headlines after the release of her movie titled, Fate of Alakada which earned her accolades in the months that followed. She is currently married to Kolawole Ajeyemi, a fellow actor, and is also a proud mum.
Prior to her change of name in 2016, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi was previously known as Toyin Aimakhu.On why she changed her last name, she disclosed that it was a family decision to change her name from Aimakhu to Abraham. Contrary to popular opinion, Toyin Abraham did not originate from a core Yoruba state. She is of Edo origin, one of the states in the southern region of Nigeria.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Toyin Abraham was born in Auchi, Edo state but spent most of her early life in Ibadan, Oyo state where the Yoruba language was predominant, and as such, she became an excellent speaker of the language.
Toyin Abraham is the last of six children. Her family’Toyin Abraham began her elementary school at Oba Kenso Nursery and Primary School, Benin. She proceeded to attend Queen Staff schools, Ibadan after her family moved from Benin to Oyo, Ibadan. That was not to be all as she transferred from Queen Staff school to Saint Anne’s, Ibadan where she obtained her School Leaving Certificate. She then proceeded to Osun State Polytechnic where she bagged her O.N.D (Ordinary National Diploma) in Marketing. After all that, the outstanding actress still proceeded to Ibadan Polytechnic where she finally bagged her H.N.D (Higher National Diploma) in Marketing.
CAREER
Abraham started acting in 2003 when Nigerian actress Bukky Wright came to Ibadan to shoot a movie. Abraham has made, directed, and starred in several Nigerian films including Alani Baba Labake and Ebimi ni. During 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards, Toyin Abraham was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Yoruba Film titled Ebimi ni, alongside Joke Muyiwa, who was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Yoruba film titled Ayitale.
In 2013, she started her own business, TAJ Dress Boutique which is based in Lagos. She expanded her business the following year when she signed a multimillion contract with a tech company, Vas2Net.
Abraham also starred in the movie, Black Val. Martini Animashaun, the CEO of Tinimash Entertainment, created and managed her reality show titled, Keeping Up With Toyin Aimakhu. In 2020, Abraham was made the ambassador for Revolution Plus Properties, a Lagos-based property outfit Abraham was also made the brand ambassador for Checkers Custard Nigeria in February 2022. Abraham has also directed and released numerous movies including the popular Nollywood movie, Fate of Alakada.
PERSONAL LIFE
Toyin Abraham has been in two marriages. In 2013, she tied the knot with her fellow Actor, Adeniyi Johnson. This union never lasted as the couple split in 2015 with infidelity being pointed out as the cause. After a series of miscommunications and trying to reunite, they eventually divorced and went their separate ways. Following the fallout of her marriage with Adeniyi Johnson, she went on to date Seun Egbebe, a movie producer but that too did not work out and the two went their separate ways.
Undaunted and bruised, Toyin Abraham decided not to be denied marital bliss, she went in pursuit of her happiness. In 2019, Toyin Abraham exchanged vows with Kolawole Ajeyemi, a fellow actor. It was a traditional wedding and in the month that followed, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Ireoluwa.
