Symere Bysil Woods (born July 31, 1995) is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who is known professionally as Lil Uzi Vert.
After dropping his commercial mixtape, Luv is Rage; the Black-American artist came to the limelight. The mixtape, which was released in 2015, helped the rapper secure a recording deal with Atlantic Records.
Lil Uzi Vert became a global music figure after the success of his debut single, Money Longer, in 2016.
EARLY LIFE
Lil Uzi Vert was born on the 31st of July 1995 in the Francisville neighborhood. He was born and raised in Northern Philadelphia. His parents Mr. & Mrs. Woods gave him the name Symere Bysil Woods. He has a sister and a little brother.
His journey into music started when he began rapping in tenth grade. Before this period, he had been listening to songs by Mike Jones, Ying Yang Twins, Meek Mill, and Wiz Khalifa. He is also a big fan of Marilyn Manson.
Lil Uzi Vert and two of his friends created a rap group called Streaktown. The group was disbanded by the time he turned 17. He didn’t complete high school, dropping out to join the workforce. His first job was at a Bottom Dollar Store.
EDUCATION
Lil Uzi Vert attended public-owned schools in North Philadelphia for his elementary, junior high, and high school education.
However, he didn’t complete high school, dropping out in eleventh grade.
CAREER
Lil Uzi Vert came to the limelight after recording and releasing his debut single, Money Longer, in 2006. The song is the leading single off his mixtape, Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World. The mixtape was also released in 2016 and contained the chart-topping song, You Was Right.
Between 2016 and 2017, the rapper worked on two more mixtapes. He appeared as a featured artist on the hit single, Bad and Boujee by Migos. In 2017, he secured his first top-ten single on major charts with the release of XO Tour Llif3. The single won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of the Summer.
That same year, Lil Uzi Vert dropped his debut studio album titled Luv Is Rage 2. The album was a commercial success and debuted at number one on Billboard 200 and secured the artist double-platinum certification from RIAA. The album also helped him secure a nomination for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in 2018.
Luv Is Rage 2 also created ten Billboard Hot 100 charting singles such as The Way Life Goes and Sauce It Up. In October 2017, Lil Uzi Vert appeared as a headline artist at Power 105.1’s annual Powerhouse music event, which was held in New York. He performed alongside leading acts like Migos, The Weeknd, and Cardi B.
Three after the release of his first full-length project, Lil Uzi Vert dropped his sophomore studio album, Eternal Atake. The album, which was released on the 6th of March 2020, made it number one on Billboard 200. Earlier, he had recorded and released Futsal Shuffle 2020 and That Way, the first and second singles respectively of the album. The project had over 400 million streams in early 2020 and 288,000 album sales in the United States alone.

Lil Uzi Vert was in a serious relationship with fashion designer Brittany Byrd from 2014 to 2017. Brittany Byrd was attending Parson School Of Design at the time they were dating. The couple’s breakup was confirmed in June 2017, when Lil Uzi Vert announced the news.
He has also dated female rapper JT of the City Girls. He has a tattoo dedicated to JT on his left hand. He had also dated Cleopatra Bernard, DreamDoll, and Brittany Renner.
Lil Uzi Vert was close friends with the late rapper XXX Tentacion. After the latter’s death, he initiated the idea of a foundation that would fight gun violence and take care of XXXTentacion‘s family.
