Saoirse Una Ronan was born in the Bronx borough of New York City, United States, on 12 April 1994. Raised in a Catholic family, she has dual citizenship of American and Irish. She was born to Irish parents Paul Ronan and Monica Ronan (neé Brennan), both from Dublin. Her father, Paul Ronan, was a construction and bar worker before he got trained as an actor in the city of New York.
Saoirse Ronan‘s parents immigrated from Ireland to America in the 1980s due to economic recession and subsequent famine ravaging Ireland. However, life was not as rosy in New York as they had imagined it would be, so they moved back to Dublin. By that time, Saoirse Ronan was three years old and was raised in Ardattin, County Carlow, for a short period before her family moved to Dublin again in her teens, where they lived in the seaside village of Howth

Saoirse Ronan made her acting debut in the TV medical drama ‘The Clinic’ in 2003 before appearing in the thriller series ‘Proof’. In 2007, she was nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe for her role in ‘Atonement’ opposite Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. In the same year, she appeared alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd in ‘I Could Never Be Your Woman. In 2008, she starred in ‘Death Defying Acts’ and ‘City of Ember’, though the former was poorly received at the box office. In 2009, she played a murdered teenager in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones alongside Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci.
