Mizero Ncuti Gatwa ( born October 15, 1992) is a Rwandan-Scottish actor and model who has a net worth of $1 million US as of 2022. He rose to fame after being the cast of popular Netflix original comedy teen series titled S*x Education in which he played the role of Eric Effiong in 2019. EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Ncuti Gatwa was born on the 15th of October 1992, in Nyarugenge, Kigali, Rwanda. His father’s name is Tharcisse Gatwa, his dad grew up in Rwanda’s Karongin District and worked as a journalist with a Ph.D. in theology. During the Rwandan genocide in 1994, the entire family relocated from Rwanda to Scotland where they reside in Edinburgh and Dunfermline while growing up in Scotland.
Moving on to Ncuti’s education, he first attended Boroughmuir High School and then Dunfermline High School. Later he moved to Glasgow to enroll at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, from where the actor has completed his graduation in 2013 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts.
Gatwa is of Rwandan descent from his parent’s side. He 9discovered his passion for acting at an early age and shortly after graduating he began his career in the entertainment industry.
CAREER
Ncuti Gatwa started his acting career on stage. He performed in several productions, including Victoria. The actor then played a small role in Bob Servant, a 2014 sitcom. In 2015, he landed a supporting role in Stonemuouth, a miniseries, and later performed in the Kneehigh Theatres production of 946.
In 2016, he portrayed Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Shakespeare’s Globe. After that, Gatwa did not have many roles in 2017. But in 2018, he landed the role of Eric Effiong in Sex Education, a Netflix comedy-drama series. After the series premiered in 2019, Gatwa won accolades from fans. He won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor in Television in 2020.
