Today I will be explaining Google Adsense and how to make money via Google Adsense. As usual, I won’t use bogus terminologies so everyone can understand.
What Is Google Adsense?
Google Adsense is a program or platform that Google manages. The aim of this platform is to link advertisers to publishers. For example, Jumia is an online shopping site where goods can be purchased. At any point in time Jumia may notice that their sales are declining, now what can they do to fix that. They can try advertising their site to potential customers but how can they have access to potential customers, that’s where Google AdSense comes in. They will link Jumia to Publishers that have a lot of users/traffic. Note that any site you visit has cookies enabled which means they have access to your data like your IP address, your location, your age, your gender and they will use those data to advertise to you.
Have you wondered why if you visit Jumia and check out a product like a shoe, if you leave Jumia without buying the shoe you will keep seeing that shoe on most of the sites you visit, that’s because Google has access to your data and your behavior as I stated previously.
Who is a Google Advertiser
A Google Advertiser is a person or a company willing to pay for an advert in order to promote their product to a large user base/potential customers.
Who is a Google Publisher
A Google Publisher is a person or company that has a platform (website) which attract a lot of users who can be advertised to. For instance, Linda Ikeji is a Google Publisher she gets paid by Google Adsense to shows adverts on her website which people who visit her website will see.
How do I make money as a Google Advertiser?
You make money as a Google Advertiser by paying Google Adsense to show your ads on a publisher sites. For instance, Jumia pays google AdSense to run an advert, Google Adsense will show that ad on a Publisher site like Linda ikejis blog, punch newspaper, or any of their publishers. If you visit linda ikejis blog and you see the Jumia advert, you like the advert and you click on it, you might end up purchasing a product on Jumia, which was the reason that ad was created. This means Jumia has successfully made money by paying to use Google Adsense.
How to make money as a Google Publisher
Making money as a Google publisher is very interesting, You get paid to show adverts to the users of your site. In order to be eligible to be a Google Publisher, you must meet their basic requirements as your blog/ site must comply with their policies, your blog should be at least 3-6 months old. I will go into detail about this in another post.
What do you the readers of this post need to start making money with Google Adsense?
- You need a blog/site which has a minimum of 5000 daily users
- You will need to create a Google Adsense account that you will use to apply for your site
- A blog/site with unique valuable content

How do you get paid?
You get paid directly to your Nigerian Bank account, when you’ve reached the AdSense minimum threshold of 100 USD you will be able to add your Nigerian bank details to the payment method tab. You could link a Naira or a Domiciliary bank Account.
